In 2017 the Outdoor Retailer Show pulled out of their 20 year relationship with Utah by changing the location of their show to anywhere but Utah. Why? Because the governor and his cohorts in the state legislature passed a resolution asking the president to rescind the Bears Ears National Monument Designation and shrink the size of Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. This is one of the most important stories happening in the world of conservation in Utah currently. Why do they want to eliminate these places?

They want oil, gas, coal and uranium. But the cost to extract is TOO MUCH economically and environmentally. Most on the right have argued that the designation hurts the surrounding economies. We put that notion to rest in this episode of Utopia.
